Roddy McDowall was an English-American actor, producer, and director. He was best known for his roles in the films Lassie Come Home, How Green Was My Valley, and Planet of the Apes.

He was also a prolific voice actor, appearing in many animated films and television series. McDowall was born in Herne Hill, London, England, on September 17, 1928. He began his acting career at the age of six, appearing in the film Murder in the Family.

He went on to appear in numerous films and television series throughout his career, including The Greatest Show on Earth, The Longest Day, and The Poseidon Adventure.
